We offer support to assist you to live within your income. Our aim is to help families find security in handling their own financial affairs through the development of money management skills. Pakuranga and Howick Budgeting Service Inc is an incorporated society with charity status, that has been operating since 1998. We are funded by the Ministry of Social Development  and are supported by the National Building Financial Capability Charitable Trust

Peter Barnett (Secretary)

Peter Barnett has been involved in Sales and Marketing Management and divisional management for most of his life.  His commitment to his community has been through 40 years with service clubs such as Jaycees and Rotary and has been a past president of two rotary clubs.  He is currently a Justice of the Peace and the secretary of the Pakuranga and Howick Budget Service, a role he has held for the last five years.  He has a Diploma in Te Ara Reo Māori from Te Wananga o Aotearoa and is passionate about developing inclusive relationships with all people of different ethnic backgrounds and will continue to serve his community through the vital work that the budget service provides.

Nick Ng (Treasurer)

Nick (SP Ng, CA) is a member of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand. He graduated from University of Otago with Bachelor of Commerce in 1978.  He has over 40 years working experience within manufacturing and finance industries and joined PHBS as treasurer in mid 2019.

Ashley Perera (Board Member)

Ashley Perera joined the Pakuranga and Howick Budgeting Service (PHBS) in August 2021. He is keen on assisting the development of financial literacy in the community and would like to share his knowledge and experience. He is a chartered management accountant by profession with over 30 years experience in NZ and overseas. He had been a senior finance and information technology professional in the forestry, service nd non profit sectors.

Nikki Newham (Board Member)

Nikki is a Chartered Professional Engineer with 18 years experience in electricity transmission and high voltage power systems. She currently works for Transpower where she has held a number of roles including in strategy, transmission grid development and investment, grid operations and is currently leading long term strategic and operational projects. Her community interests are diverse including as a Board member for Pakuranga and Howick Budgeting Service, mentoring for First Foundation and early career engineers, and as a trustee of the Power Engineering Excellence Trust. She loves to see others grow their knowledge and confidence to achieve their goals in both their personal and professional lives.

Sheriar has worked with many clients since he started working with PHBS in 2009. His experience in the accounting field and time spent working for a multinational credit card company has given him great knowledge when assisting those with low financial literacy and where money matters are a big challenge.
